Bubba Pollard Excited for Wilkesboro Return Trip

It's a matter of unfinished business for the Southern Super Series points leader

From the moment the Southern Super Series made Racetrack Revival at North Wilkesboro Speedway a points race, Bubba Pollard was all-in and ready to return to the foothills, but some extra incentive came in the form of a text message last month too.

You coming to North Wilkesboro?

It was Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Dale Jr. is the loudest and most prominent advocate in favor of returning Historic North Wilkesboro Speedway to prominence and who wants to disappoint the two-time Daytona 500 winner?

Beyond that, Pollard has raced at Wilkesboro before, crossing the line second to Chris Eggleston before a post-race disqualification dropped him to the back of the rundown. It was a double dose of disappointment for Pollard, but this weekend presents a second chance to get that one back. "It would be really cool," Pollard said. "There is so much history there and now bringing it back and all the things they want to do in the future. Honestly, I think it is kind of nuts having that many races, what they're planning to do. Really cool stuff all the different divisions."

As a part-time dirt racer and the promoter of his family's dirt track in Georgia, he's excited to see the dirt portion of Racetrack Revival in October too.

"I hope the dirt racing works out," Pollard said "But really, this being the last race before they restructure the track or whatever all they plan to do, we're definitely aware this is the last time on this version of the race track.

"We'd love to have a trophy from that place."

And then the text from Earnhardt too.

"That was neat," Pollard said. "And I think it’s cool that he is going to race too. It’s going to be fun, a good time, a lot of history, and excited to get one more shot to try and do it again."
