Cordele Double Notes

6 out of 7:  Looking at the numbers, there have been six different winners in the last seven ASA Southern Super Series events.  In all, there have been seven different winners in 2025 with several races still to go.

Leading Winner: Bubba Pollard picked up his 42nd ASA Southern Super Series win on Friday night in the 75-lap race.  Pollard was going for three-straight wins on Saturday night before a broken hub ended his bid before lap 100.  Pollard will be chasing his first win in the World Crown come October at Cordele.

Atwell Makes Noise:  It was no surprise to see Michael Atwell pocket the Fast Time Engine Builders Pole Award and lead laps at Cordele. For Atwell, it was his third-career pole with the Southern Super Series and fourth top-five at Georgia track.  We know he’ll be back for the World Crown in October.

Six Em:  Jake Finich ran well both nights and posted a pair of sixth-place finishes. That marks six top 10 runs this season for Finch, who is running a limited schedule with ARCA and Pro Late Model obligations.  The next race is at one of his best tracks, so watch out for the 51 in Pensacola.

Odd Man Wins Again: Jake Garcia has done rather well in the Georgia Summer Nationals.  With his victory this year, Garcia has now won the race in the last three running during odd-numbered years.  That means he has now won the race in 2021, 2023, and 2025.  The victory marked his fourth career ASA Southern Super Series win.

New Team Brewing: Stephen Nasse showed up with a familiar face at Cordele Motor Speedway.  Nasse has teamed up with Mike Cope Racing, a former force in Super Late Model action.  Things didn’t go so well the first night, but Nasse was ninth on the lead lap at the end of night two.  It was a good opportunity to lay some groundwork during the non-points races.

Rookie Continues Run: Gavan Boschele started off 2025 on fire, and the rookie from North Carolina won the second time out at New Smyrna in the Clyde Hart Memorial 200. From there, the finishes slowed down a bit, but he returned to form this past weekend with a pair of top-five finishes. With those finishes, he now has six top-five runs on the season.

Craig Looking Solid: On Friday, Matt Craig scored his third consecutive second-place finish, giving him one of the best average finishes over the past few months. Craig has seven top-five finishes this year.  Things didn’t go as well on Saturday night, but Craig managed another top 10 finish after posting a seventh-place run.

On to Five Flags: The next ASA Southern Super Series race will be a big one.  The season-final for the Deep South Cranes Blizzard Series and the next-to-last points race for the Southern Super Series. Cole Butcher has won the first three Blizzard Series events and is going for an unheard-of sweep.  Join the series at Five Flags on September 27th.

For the Crown: We expect all of the drivers on the property who raced for the two days to be back for the World Crown 300 in October.  The event was revived by Cordele in 2024 and returned for its second season.  Big bonus money will be on the line for the teams that ran the SuperFest races at Cordele this year.  The race will take place on October 25th, continuing a tradition that began in 1983.
