Five Flags Speedway Set for Sunshine State 200 Matinee Saturday, March 14th

(Pensacola, FL) The dawn of a new season is upon us, and there is nothing more exciting than opening day in Pensacola, Florida, at Five Flags Speedway.  The popular racing venue on Pine Forest Road is set to start another season with the fourth running of the Sunshine State 200 for the Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA STARS National Tour and the ASA Southern Super Series.

Drivers will flock from all over the country to Pensacola for the springtime classic, which will be run in the afternoon on Saturday, March 14th at 1:00 PM CT. The first race of the season drew over 40 pre-race entries, with 19 different states represented.

“Race fans will want to be here early on March 14th,” said Five Flags Speedway General Manager Tim Bryant.  “We saw really good racing in the first race of the year, and we expect that to transition over to Five Flags in March.”

The event is the first points race of the season for the ASA Southern Super Series and the Deep South Crane Blizzard Series at Five Flags Speedway. In addition, it’s the second points race for the ASA STARS National Tour and the second leg of the Sunshine State Four Crown Challenge, which will feature the Blizzard finale and the Florida Governor’s Cup 200.

Defending Triple Champion Cole Butcher will be on hand for his first Super Late Model race of the season.  Butcher won the ASA STARS National Tour title, the ASA Southern Super Series crown, and the track’s Blizzard Series title.  The Canadian driver has also won the last two runnings of the Sunshine State 200.  Butcher’s average finish in the race is a shocking 2.0.

More information and other entries will be released in the coming days.
