World Crown Post-Race Notes

Here is a look back at some of the storylines and results from the World Crown 300 weekend.

The Club - With his victory in the World Crown 300, Stephen Nasse became the second driver to win the Grand Slam of Super Late Model racing: the Snowball Derby, the All American 400, the Winchester 400, and the World Crown 300.

Chase Elliott did the feat back in the season finale Southern Super Series race of 2013.  That night was also a championship race for the series as Daniel Hemric beat Bubba Pollard by a single point for the title.  Unlike 2013, this year’s championship battle was all but set before lap 200, as contender Pollard succumbed to engine failure.

The Champion - Spencer Davis from Dawsonville, Georgia, became the 11th different driver to win the Southern Super Series title.  Davis is also the eighth winner of the SSS title from the state of Georgia.  The title comes on the heels of Davis winning the Super Late Model title at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.

Double Up - Colin Allman became only the second driver in the history of the World Crown 300 to finish in the second spot in back-to-back races.  The Plant City, Florida driver has had some big runs in big races this year.  He was second in the Rattler 250 back in March.

Davis Run - We cleaned up all the championship stuff for Spencer Davis, but we didn’t mention his strong third-place run in the World Crown 300.  Davis had five top-five finishes in the last six races, with the final four being in that frame. He also scored podium finishes in three of his last four starts.

Davis Laps - After finishing third in the World Crown at Cordele Motor Speedway, newly crowned champion Spencer Davis set a record.  Davis ran 1600 laps of the 1600 laps the Southern Super Series has contested this season.  Casey Smith did the same and won the title in 2015.

Bubba Heartbreak - After leading laps and swapping the top spot with Stephen Nasse, Pollard pulled up the track after smoke came out of the engine after the first tire change break.  For Pollard, it just adds to his misfortune in the race. Pollard has now won the pole three times and led the race in nine different seasons, but he has still yet to win.

Bubba in a Pro - Before the World Crown 300, Bubba Pollard won the 100-lap Pro Late Model race at Cordele Motor Speedway.  In the past, Pollard has twice won the campaign race to the World Crown 300.

Two Races - We mention Bubba doing the double that day, but so did Jake Finich, who ran the NASCAR race at Talladega on Saturday afternoon.  Also, Jake Garcia ran the truck race on Friday and came to Cordele, Georgia, to defend his World Crown 300 title.  Finich finished fourth, and Garcia led laps, but failed to finish after he was chasing Nasse for the win.

62 Squared - In the later stage of the race, the two number 62 cars found each other on the race track and both got rear damage.  One was Casey Roderick and the second was Keelan Harvick, who both had decent runs going.  Roderick ended up 11th, and Harvick was 12th in his World Crown 300 debut.

Second, again - for the fourth straight year, Matt Craig finished second in the Southern Super Series points.  Craig has 34 top-10 finishes over those seasons, and he’s pocketed three wins.  He will be back to try for it again in 2027.

Big race season continues with the All American 400 at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on November 8th and the Florida Governor’s Cup 200 at New Smyrna on November 15th.  It all leads up to the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway on December 6th.
