Legacy Awaits Nasse at the World Crown

Years ago, it was special if a driver could win one of the Crown Jewels or “Grand Slam” of the Super Late Model Racing world.  The Snowball Derby, the Winchester 400, the All American 400, and the World Crown 300.

All of these races have deep ties to the 1980s and beyond. The thought of winning one of these races was huge; a pair of these victories could be worth a career.

To win three would put you in elite status.  Only Bobby Gill, Gary Balough, Darrell Waltrip, Butch Miller, Gary St. Amant, and Stephen Nasse have won three of these events.

To win all four?  Well, it’s only been done once, and that was Chase Elliott at the end of the first Southern Super Series season in 2013.

That night Elliott finished off the “Grand Slam” in the season finale for the Southern Super Series in their inaugural season back in 2013.  Elliott won the All American 400, a 300-lap race at the time. The win was big for what he accomplished, but behind him, Daniel Hemric made up enough spots on the track to win the series title by one point. It was truly a historic night for the series.

Now, the series has a chance for somewhat similar circumstances.  Stephen Nasse has a chance to add his name to the “Grand Slam” club in a 300-lap race that will also decide a series champion.

“I am pumped that we will have that opportunity," said Nasse. “It would be really cool to have my name on the list like that.  Checking boxes is always cool with a win, and this is one we want to get.”

If the Pinellas Park, Florida driver is able to get the job done, don’t be surprised if he walks into the Denny’s a few exits down wearing a crown and orders a grand slam.   That would be a fitting way to finish off the run.

There will be several other drivers like Bubba Pollard, Matt Craig, and series point leader Spencer Davis who will be doing everything in their power to prevent the Grand Slam for Nasse.

Don’t forget the World Crown 300 weekend is coming up on October 23rd and October 24th.  The ASA Southern Super Series will also crown the 2026 series champion.  There is a chance that one driver could walk out of the Cordele as winner and champion after 300 laps.
