No, he’s not 40 years old, but he did just win in the ASA Southern Super Series for the 40th time in his career. Pollard is the first in the Southern Super Series to do such a feat, but when you look at it, it’s hard to find more than a dozen or so names of guys who have won that many times in a series.
For fun, we did a little comparing and contrasting to what the win total means compared to the others who have run Super Late Model-type Series for a long time. 40 was the minimum to make this winning list.
Bob Senneker’s 85 wins in ASA has to be considered an untouchable feat. Regardless of the total, those 85 wins came against some of the best we have ever seen in Late Model racing. Also from ASA are Mike Eddy with 58 and Butch Miller with 50.
Right behind that we find Robbie Crouch who holds the record for 77 ACT Pro Stock wins. This was an era where he ran head-to-head with Junior Hanley, Dave Dion, Randy LaJoie, Mike Rowe and Ralph Nason.
Next, we see the ARTGO faithful of Dick Trickle and Steve Carlson who had near identical win totals. Carlson also has 40 NASCAR Midwest event wins and Joe Shear pocketed 58 under the ARTGO banner.
Southern Super Series winner Derek Thorn is on the list having dominated things on the left coast for many years. Johnny Clark has 47 wins up north and Ben Rowe is right with him with 42
Regardless of how you feel about this, Pollard won 40 races in much shorter seasons than most of the series below. Imagine if the Southern Super Series ran as many races as ASA back in the day.
For those who are wondering, Ty Majeski has 39 wins with ASA Midwest.
