Deep Field: It’s no secret that the field for the 27th Annual Clyde Hart Memorial 200 was one of the best we have seen in a while. We are almost going to start expecting that in the near future, with the success we have seen at the New Smyrna February event. Many of the same stars will be back in March at Five Flags.
Blazing Rookie: Tristan McKee is one to watch this season after he sat on the pole for the Clyde Hart Memorial 200 at New Smyrna Speedway. He then led a handful of laps at the beginning of the race and stayed with the leaders to finish third. This is off the heels of finishing second in the Allen Turner Snowflake 125 last December. A lot of eyes will be looking in his direction next month at Five Flags.
Sutton’s Run: The last four races in which Dawson Sutton has raced with the ASA Southern Super Series have resulted in podium finishes. Sutton was second at New Smyrna, and that was fresh off his Blizzard finale win and the All American 400 win.
The Jones Boy Run: Coming from 26th to eighth was a highlight of the weekend for Connor Jones. The Late Model young gun always seems to make some noise when he runs with the series. He was the pole sitter at New Smyrna last year and came from deep in the pack to get a top 10 this year.
From One Championship to Another: Spencer Davis won two races at New Smyrna and won the Speedweeks Super Late Model title. Could we see him chase another title? We know he will likely contend for the Blizzard Series title at Five Flags and maybe the Southern Super Series crown.
Jade Making Moves: What an impressive Speedweeks and Clyde Hart Memorial for Jade Avedisian. She won the Saturday Super Late Model race, leading into the big 200-lap race on Tuesday. She posted a seventh and contended for another victory later in the week.
High Level Competition: The Clyde Hart Memorial was highly competitive, with 14 cars on the lead laps and 21 total cars within 1 lap of the lead.
Nasse Charges Again: Death, taxes, and Stephen Nasse coming from the middle to the back half of the field are things you can count on. The 2025 Snowball Derby winner once again made a charge at his home track, but this time it was from 15th to ninth.
Another Derby Champ Charges: Kaden Honeycutt came from 25th to post a 16th-place finish, not his best effort, but still, he was able to salvage something out of a poor start. Honeycutt finished one lap off the pace, and we expect to see him on a few more occasions.
Sunshine State 200 Gets Sunshine: The start time for the ASA STARS National Tour / Southern Super Series combo race will get a 1pm CT green flag on March 14th. It’s always fun to watch the Super Late Models at Five Flags in broad daylight.
