Unpacking Pensacola Finale

Casey Roderick had a near-perfect night as he won the pole, redrew the top spot, and won the race to clinch the ASA Southern Super Series title and the Blizzard Series title at Five Flags Speedway.  Roderick didn’t have the Blizzard title locked up until the late stages when Stephen Nasse fell out of the race.

Before the day’s activities, Bubba Pollard was awarded a special honor for winning his 25th Blizzard Series race in the most recent event.  Pollard has won more Blizzard races than any other driver by a wide margin.  The luck ran out for Pollard as he fell out of the race before the checkered flag flew.

Roderick won the race after he held off a hard-charging John Bolen who locked himself into the 10th and final spot in the points standings making him eligible for a provisional at the Snowball Derby.  Bolen had a great night with a sixth in the Pro Late Model race and a second in the Blizzard race.

For the second year in a row, Matt Craig will finish second in the point standings as he chases his first ASA Southern Super Series title.  The Kannapolis, North Carolina driver won earlier this season at Montgomery Motor Speedway. (AL).

Michael Hinde recovered from a spin to post a fourth-place finish marking his sixth-straight run in the top 10 in the Blizzard Series.  He’s not kicked in the winning door just yet but finishes like this have him getting closer and closer.

While a ninth-place finish doesn't show the full extent of where Dustin Smith ran in the season finale, the outcome is positive.  Smith marked his fifth top 10 of the season and the third time this year he’s come up ninth. His consistency also enabled him to capture the 2024 VDL Carburetors Rookie of the Year Award for the ASA Southern Super Series.

Buddy Shephard and Gavan Boschele posted their career-best finishes at Five Flags Speedway in Super Late Model action. Shepherd was eighth and Boschele was fifth. Look for both to be back at the Snowball Derby.

Dylan Fetcho posted a career-best fifth at Five Flags Speedway in a Super Late Model, this marks the second race in a row that he’s been in the top five in the ASA Southern Super Series.  He will be a contender for some wins in 2025.

Posting back-to-back top-10 runs at Five Flags was Billy VanMeter who was eighth at Cordele Motor Speedway last month.  VanMeter had four top-10 runs on the season.

With the completion of the Blizzard Series and the ASA Southern Super Series, it’s now getting close to Snowball Derby time.  The annual Super Late Model event is coming on December 8th with $50,000 for the winner.

Don’t forget the points season may be complete, but the ASA Southern Super Series will run a combination race with the ASA STARS National Tour at the All American 400 on November 3rd.
