Long-time running partner, VDL Fuel Systems, will once again be the title sponsor of the ASA Southern Super Rookie of the Year program.
Awarded to the top rookie who earns the most points during the season, the award has garnered much attention over the years. First-year Super Late Model drivers have made names for themselves after winning this honor.
Former SSS Rookie of the Year winners won 16 of the 25 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races in 2025, including the Series Championship with Corey Heim.
“VDL Fuel Systems appreciates the opportunity to participate in the Rookie of the Year program. We believe it represents an important component in our racing industry,” said Darren VanderLey, VDL Founder.
“As drivers develop, on their way to their professional career, it’s important for them to have opportunities that we believe this level of racing offers. The professionalism of the (Southern Super) series and seasoned drivers make this series a critical step in that path. Therefore, to recognize the talent and reward the dedication is significant.”
The 2025 Rookie of the Year campaign saw Gavan Boschele bested Carson Brown, Chase Pinsonneault, and George Phillips. Between these four drivers, they posted 15 top-five finishes and 28 top-10 finishes.
While the 2026 candidates have not been announced, the series encourages teams with first-year Super Late Model drivers to contact them and express their interest in participating.
