Southern Super Series Finale to Be Held at New Smyrna
The Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco will crown its 2019 champion at a new venue. New Smyrna Speedway’s Hart to Heart 100 will now be a SSS-sanctioned race, serving as this year’s season finale.
The Hart to Heart 100 is contested each October, in conjunction with New Smyrna Speedway’s Hart to Heart Breast Cancer Foundation. The 2019 Hart to Heart 100 will maintain its originally-scheduled date of October 19.
Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco promoter Tim Bryant is excited to bring his series to New Smyrna for the first time. The venue hosts the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing each February, as well as the Florida Governor’s Cup. Now, New Smyrna will add the Deep South’s premier Super Late Model touring series to its docket.
“Central Florida is a hotbed for Super Late Model racing these days, and New Smyrna Speedway is an iconic part of that scene,” Bryant said. “Between our Series regulars and the Florida cars that are regulars there, we believe it can be a heck of a race. It will also serve a great warm up to the annual Governor’s Cup event.”
New Smyrna Speedway track manager Rusty Marcus is excited to bring the Southern Super Series to the New Smyrna high banks, as part of a consistent, ongoing effort by the track to bring new series and classes to the facility in 2019.
“This is the first time the Southern Super Series has been here and we’re excited to have them for the 2019 season finale,” Marcus said. “We are trying to do different things to entertain our fans. It’s a chance to bring in some cars from some other places and see what happens.”
The Hart to Heart 100 will conclude a 10-race season for the Southern Super Series, which kicks off March 15-17 at South Alabama Speedway with the Rattler 250. Seven different tracks will host the ten Southern Super Series events across four states.
The race will maintain its current 100-lap distance, along with a standard Southern Super Series prize purse.
