Big Money Again the Focus for SSS Race Winners in 2024

Racing for the big dollars is what Super Late Model drivers will face each week when the ASA Southern Super Series rolls to town.  The top notch regional series is getting set for their 12th season of Super Late Model competition with big money on the line each time out.

Each ASA Southern Super Series race will pay $10,000 to the winner, with the combination races with the ASA STARS National Tour paying at least $15,000 to win each race.  Combo events will be run at New Smyrna Speedway (FL), the first Five Flags Speedway (FL) event, and the Thursday midweek show on May 23rd at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC).

“The Southern Super Series has done a great job of giving us a place to race for big purses,” said former series champion,” Bubba Pollard.  “A few years back you had to drive 10 hours away to run races that paid this much to win.  Now ASA, the Southern Super Series and Five Flags have all made this the standard.”

A total of eight different drivers were able to cash in $10,000 checks or higher in 2023 as the average number of winners in the series hovers around nine per year. It makes the ASA Southern Super Series one of the most competitive series around.

“The competition in the Southern Super Series the last few years has been amazing,” said Series General Manager, Tim Bryant. “As a promoter you can’t ask for more than what we have seen.  Each time we race we feel like a new face is going to victory lane.”

The overall points championship will award $10,000 to the driver who accumulates the most points in the 11-regular season events.  The top 10 finishers in the points will also be eligible for a provisional starting position in the 57th Annual Snowball Derby in December.

There have been nine different champions in the ASA Southern Super Series in the first 11 seasons making it one of the most competitive backdrops in any form of racing. Only once in series history has a driver won back-to-back titles, that was Casey Roderick in 2018 and 2019.

The Southern Super Series will kick off the 2024 season at SpeedFest on January 19th & 20th at Watermelon Capital Speedway at Crisp Motorsport Park (GA). This will be the first season the January event will count for points.
