Nasse Seeks First Blizzard Title, Again

We made a list of the things Stephen Nasse hasn’t won at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida.

Two of these are really easy to understand.  Nasse is not the strongest qualifier.  In fact, he’s won the Hard Charger Award at the Snowball Derby three times in the last four years. In his last five Snowball Derby events, he is a plus 114 on starting and finishing positions.  

The other easy one is the 50/50.  Nasse has never bought a ticket.  Can you imagine if he did and won? 

The elephant in the room is the Blizzard Series title.  Nasse leads the points by 15 markers over Cole Butcher and 19 points over Jake Garcia.  Both of those drivers are expected to be in Kansas for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race that day. 

Despite a Snowball Derby win, a Snowflake win and a recent weekend sweep in the Blizzard Series, the track title has eluded him for years. 

A year ago, Nasse had a shot in the final race, but Cole Butcher had built a solid point lead that was an easy task to overcome. Nasse finished fourth despite finishing in the top 10 in all events.  In 2024, he led the points going into the final night as Casey Roderick won the race and the Championship. 

Believe it or not, that was the fourth time Nasse has been the runner-up in the Five Flags Speedway Super Late Model standings.  He lost one title to Bubba Pollard by a single point. 

He’s been unlucky, unlike the ASA Southern Super Series where he’s won three titles over the same span and was close on a few others. 

“I’m at a point in my career where I’m just trying to get everything marked off that I want to accomplish,” said Nasse.  Winning the Blizzard title, that’s one of the main things on the list, so hopefully we can give a good run at it next Saturday.  My team and I have been doing everything we can to prepare, so we just have to go out and do it.”

After back-to-back wins in June, Nasse returns with Anthony Campi Racing in a joint effort with Preston Peltier to continue the run they have had at Five Flags.  Nasse and Campi’s run dates back to the 2025 Snowball Derby, and Peltier and the P1 chassis have come on board since. 

Nasse will fly the colors of Oasis Cabaret, Mitch Smith Racing and Tates Crab Shack on his number 51 Super Late Model.  He will be just a spectator for the Pro Late Model race this weekend, but he should be back behind the wheel of a Pro Late Model at the Snowflake.  

Saturday, September 26th is Championship night for the Deep South Crane Blizzard Series and the track’s Allen Turner Pro Late Model Series.  Both series will run 100-lap events along with the Crown Stock division to end the regular season at Five Flags Speedway.  For more information, visit www.5flagsspeedway.com or www.SouthernSuperSeries.com
