Mobile Post Race

Bubba Numbers: Bubba Pollard wins his second consecutive race of the 2026 ASA Southern Super Series season.  Pollard now has seven SSS wins at Mobile International Speedway and 20 career wins in the Super Late Model.  Pollard recorded most of those in the old Miller Lite Series at the track, which was part of the Gulf Coast Championship Series.  

Back-to-back Buddies: For the first time in series history, three drivers have scored back-to-back wins in a season.  Carson Brown did it first at New Smyrna and Five Flags, then Stephen Nasse swept the weekend in Pensacola in June, and now Bubba Pollard has added his name after wins at Cordele and Mobile. 

The Battle: Spencer Davis holds a 30-point lead over Bubba Pollard and a 34-point lead over Matt Craig as the series heads into the final two events of the season.  Both the Blizzard finale at Five Flags and the World Crown 300 at Cordele are expected to have high car counts that will keep the points battle alive for the final 400 laps of the 2026 season.  

The Other Battle:  While the ASA Southern Super Series title is on the line, the first business to settle will be the Deep South Crane Blizzard Series at the next race at Five Flags Speedway on September 26th.  Stephen Nasse holds a 15-point advantage over last year’s champion Cole Butcher.  Nasse has never won the Blizzard Series title. 

Day Train: Spencer Davis keeps on trucking with his eighth top-10 finish of the season and his fifth inside the top five.  Davis’ average finish is 5.25 as he’s looking to cap off this strong season where he’s been among the leaders all season.  

Making it Count: Jake Garcia is making the most of his trip back into the Super Late Model ranks.  Garcia had an average finish of 1.75 in 2025, and this year he’s got an average finish of 4.40.  Overall, he’s picked up three wins over the course of those runs.  

Surprise:  James Patrick was the pop-up surprise at Mobile as the local driver from Mobile, AL, led 24 laps as the field raced to halfway.   Patrick did end up ninth after the restart as he finished one lap off the pace.  For a while we were looking at what could have been the upset story of the year. 

Craig Game:  Alabama has been kind to Matt Craig over the years with a pair of wins at Montgomery, and now he’s posted three-straight podium finishes at Mobile dating back to the 2025 season.  Craig has never been outside the top five at Mobile with the Southern Super Series. 

In Time:  Dustin Smith will be standing at the end of one of these events holding the big trophy in the not-too-distant future.  He’s led a bunch of laps and has set fast time twice this season, only to have things not all come together.  Keep an eye on him going forward. 

Up Next: It will be Championship night at Five Flags Speedway for the Deep South Crane Blizzard Series, which runs in a combination event with the ASA Southern Super Series.  Also, the Allen Turner Pro Late Model will crown their season champion in a 100-lap contest.  The two Late Model events will take place on Saturday, September 26th.
