Add another NASCAR champion to the list of names racing a Late Model at North Wilkesboro Speedway during NASCAR All Star Week. Chase Elliott, the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion, has thrown his name into the ring for Tuesday’s ASA STARS National Tour race at the historic track in the foothills of the North Carolina mountains.
The second-generation racer and multi-time NASCAR Most Popular Driver has an extensive Super Late Model background. Elliott is a two-time champion of the Snowball Derby, the discipline’s biggest race, at Pensacola, Florida’s Five Flags Speedway, one of Elliott’s many crown jewel victories in a Super.
Elliott has also taken home a rifle from Indiana’s Winchester 400 at Winchester Speedway. He scored a World Crown 300 victory at Georgia’s now-defunct Gresham Motorsports Park. He’s also taken home one of the beautiful guitars from the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway when he won the All American 400 in 2013.
Elliott even has a win at North Wilkesboro Speedway in a Super Late Model. Elliott scored the victory way back in 2010 in a Pro All Stars Series South feature. He led 69 laps of the 200 on his way to the win when he was just 14 years old.
The Dawsonville, Georgia native made his first Super Late Model start in nearly three years earlier this year at the CRA SpeedFest event at Cordele, Georgia’s Crisp Motorsports Park. Elliott finished 19th.
Elliott will be racing a car sponsored by HendrickCars.com and FR8 Auctions. In addition to his start at North Wilkesboro Speedway on May 16, he will also race with the ASA STARS National Tour at Hickory Motor Speedway on May 25.
The 18-time NASCAR Cup Series winner joins an already deep entry list full of Super Late Model racing’s best for the ASA STARS National Tour ECMD 150 at North Wilkesboro Speedway like Bubba Pollard, Stephen Nasse and more, plus fellow NASCAR drivers William Bryon, Erik Jones, Noah Gragson, Ty Majeski, Grant Enfinger and Carson Hocevar.
