Post Race Montgomery

Jake Garcia continues to improve his batting average by winning his second start of the 2026 season.  Garcia, having won his last two starts of 2025 before having to withdraw at the All American 400, has continued the performance in 2026.  Garcia has now won three of his last four starts and has seven career wins in the series.  A former series champion still finds time to race in the Late Model ranks despite his full-time NASCAR Truck commitments.

Matt Craig had his two-race win streak snapped at Montgomery, but it was still a solid third-place showing for the Concord, North Carolina driver who will enjoy the next two races for the series in his home state.  Craig had a career-high eight top-five finishes in the Southern Super Series en route to a runner-up finish in the points.

By winning the pole on Saturday night, Tristan McKee set a Southern Super Series record by becoming the first driver to win two of the first three pole awards to start a season. McKee also set fast time at New Smyrna in February.  McKee has laps at the next two tracks and could be a challenger for the Engine Builder Pole Award again.

For the second time in his career, Spencer Davis posted a runner-up finish in the ASA Southern Super Series.  The most recent was the Florida Governor’s Cup 200 in 2025.  You have to think it’s only a matter of time before the Georgia driver takes NEXUS Racing to victory lane.

Speaking of McKee, the rookie driver posted his second top-five run of the year, and he’s now completed all 525 laps run this season.  Could McKee be the next first-time winner in the series?

Jett Noland was not in attendance as he is expecting his first child with his wife, Ashlynn.  The team needed a driver, and the Wilson Motorsports crew called upon the owner, Donnie Wilson, to pilot the number 20.  A former Rumble by the River Winner himself, Wilson had speed and showed promise, but taking a chance with the car was not the prime objective.

While the ASA Southern Super Series teams got to wait for the Rumble by the River 125, they got to watch NASCAR Truck driver and former Snowball Derby winner Kaden Honeycutt win the Modifieds of Mayhem feature.  We expect to see Honeycutt at Five Flags later this season in both a Late Model and a Modified.

The drivers and teams heading to the next rounds of the ASA Southern Super Series 2026 season will have to wait a few weeks before we get after it again in May.  Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) will be up next on Thursday, May 21st.  The 250-lap race kicks off a doubleheader weekend with Tri-County Speedway on Saturday, May 23rd, for a second round of 250 laps.  Both races are co-sanctioned with the ASA STARS National Tour.

While it will be a few weeks before the ASA Southern Super Series crews team back up with the ASA STARS National Tour, the National Series will be back in action on Sunday, April 26th at Dominion Raceway (VA).  The ebb Logistics 250 presented by Cornerstone Homes will be the third race of the season and will have a Sunday afternoon post time of 1pm ET.
