Pensacola, FL (June 21, 2023) - ASA Southern Super Series and Carteret County Speedway (NC) have made the decision to cancel this weekend’s Shootout by the Sea 125. The weather forecast was consistently unfavorable for both Friday and Saturday for the event. A potential makeup date is being discussed.
The entire Carolina region has received heavy rains for the last few days and the forecast is not looking any better for dry conditions this weekend. The travel that is associated with the series was also in consideration as teams were planning to come from all around the Southeast to race this weekend.
“We’re extremely disappointed as this was a highly anticipated event for Carteret County Speedway,” said Bob Lowery. “We’ll look forward to working with Tim (Bryant) and the Southern Super Series to bring an event back to Carteret in the future.”
“We have been looking forward to our trip to Carteret County all season and we are disappointed we won’t get to race in front of their crowd this weekend,” said SSS General Manager Tim Bryant. “We have to thank the staff at Carteret for all their hard work and we look forward to racing there down the road.”
The next event for the ASA Southern Super Series will be on Sunday, July 2nd at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway (TN) for the North / South SLM Challenge. The $10,000 to win event is a combination show with the ASA CRA Super Series. Entry forms are available on the Southern Super Series website at www.SouthernSuperSeries.com
