Unpacking 2024 All American 400

- With his fourth pole of the season, Casey Roderick secured the most Fast Time Engine Builder Awards for the 2024 ASA Southern Super Series.  The dual champion, both the ASA STARS National Tour and the ASA Southern Super Series, now has nine Southern Super Series Pole Awards in his career, second only to Bubba Pollard.

- Some might consider this a win a steal for Jake Garcia, but remember he won the Southern Super Series race at Nashville in 2023.  Garcia has posted five top-five runs at Nashville before this win. It’s been the year of first time winners in the major Super Late Model races so this should come as no surprise.

- It’s a shame to see what might have been with Matt Craig who led laps early before posting a nine-place finish.  Craig had an axle issue while leading and had to make up two laps to contend for the top 10. The loss of track position hurt his chances at a second Nashville guitar.

- There must be something about the Nashville guitar because a driver has not won their second All American 400 since Eddie Hoffman in 2007 on the crate late model side when the event was split.  It’s been since 2000 when Mike Garvey won his second guitar.

- Speaking of Mike Garvey, he had a good run going with Connor Okrezsik who got spun out with four laps to go, collecting former Snowball Derby winner Derek Thorn.  Both cars will need some TLC before their next action, but both were seeking strong finishes.

- Garcia’s win marks the third-straight win for a driver starting outside the top 10 in the All American 400. That’s a record for most consecutive outside the top 10.  The deepest winner at the All American is ASA Tech inspector Freddie Query, who won from 31st in 1998.

- Roderick also became the third driver in the Southern Super Series history to finish all the laps in a season.  Roderick made all 1640 laps in the South.  Matt Craig was able to complete 1638 despite being down several laps at the All American 400.

- One of the battles inside the battle was to see who could lead the most laps this season in the ASA STARS Tour.  Casey Roderick led eight of the 10 races and his total was 493 laps. Cole Butcher closed in on him at the All American, but his total was 482.  Those two were both behind Ty Majeski who led 544 laps after leading the most at the Winchester 400.

Butcher was able to beat out Roderick 359 to 357 in laps led in the ASA Southern Super Series. Butcher also scored his first ASA STARS and Southern Super Series wins this season.

- Strange but odd fact about Stephen Nasse who logged his fourth career Top 5 run at the All American 400.  Nasse has posted all his top five runs in even numbers of years.  In 2022 he won the race, was third in 2020, didn’t race in 2018, and was fourth in 2016.  His four top-five runs are behind Butch Miller, the all-time leader with eight.

- Only three drivers have won the All American 400 and then gone on to win the Snowball Derby in the same year.  John Hunter Nemechek did it in 2014, Jeff Purvis did it in 1995 and Gary Balough did the same in 1986.  Ironically, Balough started on the front row for both those races in 1986.
