Who Will be the Next First Time Winner with the Southern Super Series?

Winning an ASA Southern Super Series event is a monumental accomplishment. The level of drivers who are in the field each week makes it hard for anyone to rattle off three or four wins in a row. Last year nine different drivers went to victory lane in an abbreviated schedule that lost four events due to weather.

In 2022 and 2021 there were 10 different winners each season and the series is already on its way to doing that again in 2024 with three winners in four races.

We wanted to know who is going to be the next first-time winner. We polled some drivers and people close to the series as to who they think will be the next first-time winner.

“I would say, Michael Hinde,” said Matt Craig.

No surprise to hear that from Craig who had to chase Hind for 83 laps at Montgomery before gaining the top spot.

“I look at a guy like Jake Finch,” said Bubba Pollard. “Him getting laps in a Pro Late Model on top of the Super is only going to make him tougher.”

While Finch has been second twice in the past, our next pick only has a handful of starts.

“How can you not look at rookie Dawson Sutton and think he will get the job done this year,” said Southern Super Series Historian Elgin Traylor. “Sutton has been impressive out of the gates and he will be a threat at Nashville if not before then to visit victory lane.”

If you can’t pick one, then pick a few like Stephen Nasse.

“Jett Noland, Jake Finch, and Michael Hinde all have a good shot at being the next first-time winners,” said former series champion Stephen Nasse. “However, I'm going to do my best to not allow that to happen.”

We haven’t mentioned Jackson Boone, John Bolen, or the most recent podium finishers Dustin Smith and Billy VanMeter. It could be any one of these or a name that we have not focused on. The truth is the competition is so tight right now we don’t know who will visit Victory Lane next. The only way to know for sure is to be at the track.

The Southern Super Series will kick off the Gulf Coast Double next Friday night April 26th at Five Flags Speedway (FL). The weekend continues with a trip across the bay on Saturday, April 27th at Mobile International Speedway (AL). For more information log on to www.SouthernSuperSeries.com
