Championship Battle Heats Up Heading to Five Flags Speedway

Only 47 points separate the top six drivers, with only four points-paying events remaining in the ASA Southern Super Series 2025 season.  The final push to the championship will be allocated across the next several months, with the kickoff to the final four taking place at Five Flags Speedway on June 27th.

After a fourth-place finish in the most recent race, Bubba Pollard has re-assumed the lead in the quest for the Southern Super Series title. While many regard Pollard as one of the best drivers in the south, if not the entire country, his grasp on championships has been lean.  Pollard only has one title to his credit, but he’s finished second in points a total of four times, and two of those were by a total of five points.  For now, Pollard is the leader.

Just off the lead, 10 points back, is Cole Butcher, who has stumbled a bit in the south recently.  Perhaps Butcher has his Mojo back after finishing second on the ASA STARS National Tour at Madison and then winning at Slinger two nights later.  He heads back to Five Flags having won the last two races there.

Sitting in third is Colby Howard, who won at Hickory in May.  Howard has been 10th or better in each of his last seven races, allowing him to climb back up in the points to be 16 marks off the lead.

Stephen Nasse has used back-to-back second-place finishes to move to fourth and be 37 points out, and rookie Gavan Boschele is 38 points back, sitting in fifth.  Montgomery winner Matt Craig is 47 points back in sixth, but he’s had three podium finishes in the last five events.

How will the points fall in Pensacola next week?

Points are important for both the ASA Southern Super Series side and the Deep South Crane Blizzard Series side.  If you finish in the top 10, you are eligible to receive a provisional at the Snowball Derby if you don’t make the race in qualifying.  Having that extra insurance in your pocket is nice when the best of the best show up in December.

The next few races after Five Flags will take place in August, September, and November.
